HubSpot Introduces Cross-Object Filtering on CRM Index Pages

HubSpot has introduced cross-object filtering on CRM index pages, giving users a faster and more flexible way to work with data across associated CRM objects.

Now available through public beta, and very soon generally avaialble, the feature allows users to filter records using properties from their associated objects. For example, you can filter contacts based on deal properties, companies based on ticket properties, or deals based on properties from associated contacts and companies.

For HubSpot admins and operations teams, this is a significant improvement to how connected CRM data can be accessed and used.

What Is Cross-Object Filtering?

HubSpot’s CRM is built around associations between records. Contacts can be associated with companies, deals, tickets, subscriptions, and other standard or custom objects.

Until now, however, filtering records on an index page was largely limited to properties belonging to that specific object. If you were viewing the contact index, for example, your filtering options were primarily based on contact properties.

Answering questions that crossed object boundaries often required users to:

  • Build an active segment
  • Create a custom report
  • Copy values between objects using workflows
  • Export records for analysis
  • Navigate between multiple areas of HubSpot

Cross-object filtering makes associated object data available directly within the index page’s filtering tools.

How Cross-Object Filtering Works

From a CRM index page, users can open the filter panel and select an associated object. They can then choose a property belonging to that object and define the criteria the associated records must meet.

For example, from the contact index page, a user could filter contacts based on the close date, deal stage, amount, or owner of their associated deals.

Once the filter is applied, users can:

  • Review the matching records
  • Save the filters as a reusable view
  • Take bulk actions
  • Assign records
  • Enroll eligible records in workflows
  • Use the results for targeted sales or service outreach

This makes the feature valuable not only for reviewing data, but also for acting on it.

Practical Use Cases

Cross-object filtering can help teams answer questions such as:

  • Which contacts are associated with deals that closed this quarter?
  • Which companies have subscriptions approaching renewal?
  • Which companies are associated with stalled deals?
  • Which customers have high-priority support tickets?
  • Which deals are associated with companies in a particular industry?
  • Which contacts are associated with open sales opportunities?
  • Which companies have had recent activity from their associated contacts?

The available combinations will depend on the primary object being viewed, its associated objects, and the properties available in the portal.

Why This Matters for HubSpot Admins and Operations Teams

This update reduces the number of assets teams need to create simply to access connected information.

Segments and reports remain important tools within HubSpot, particularly when teams need automated membership, advanced analysis, visualizations, or attribution reporting. But they should not be necessary for every cross-object question.

In many portals, views, segments, reports, and workflows have been created primarily to make information from one object visible or actionable on another. Cross-object filtering can eliminate some of those workarounds and reduce unnecessary portal clutter.

It also makes CRM data more accessible to everyday users. Sales managers, service leaders, marketers, and account managers can answer more questions from the index pages where they already work—without needing to build a report or request help from a HubSpot administrator.

A More Useful Connected CRM

The underlying associations between HubSpot objects are not new. What has changed is how easily users can interact with that connected data.

Cross-object filtering brings the CRM index experience closer to the way teams actually think about their records. A contact is rarely relevant only because of their contact properties. Their associated company, deals, tickets, subscriptions, and activities often provide the context needed to understand the relationship and determine the appropriate next action.

By making that context available through index-page filters, HubSpot is making its connected CRM more practical for everyday record management.

Availability

Cross-object filtering on CRM index pages is available to customers with paid HubSpot subscriptions through the public beta. (As of July 21, 2026)

To use the feature, eligible portals must first opt into the beta. Once enabled, users can open the filters on a CRM index page, select an associated object, and build filters using that object’s properties.

It may not be the most visually prominent HubSpot update, but it has the potential to save admins and revenue teams significant time while making CRM views more useful, actionable, and aligned with how their data is connected.
